I’ve built a strong track record in real estate financing over the course of my career, managing nearly $6 billion in loan transactions. Starting as a loan officer and progressing to leading large-scale financing deals, I’ve gained a deep understanding of real estate lending and investment.
Between 1985 and 2006, I was involved in close to 20,000 loan transactions in various capacities, including as a loan officer, investor, partner, and owner of my companies. These transactions ranged from personal residential loans to multi-million-dollar deals for corporations and LLCs. Two of the most significant transactions I’ve worked on include an $11 million residential loan and a $13 million corporate loan, showcasing my ability to navigate both ends of the real estate financing spectrum.
In the 2010s, I played a key role in negotiating a $100 million municipal bond for the development of 210 acres of land. Although the funding ultimately fell through due to municipal challenges, the process gave me valuable experience in handling large-scale public-private projects and understanding the complexities involved in such deals.
From 1996 to 2003, I partnered with several banks to create seven mortgage subsidiaries. These partnerships allowed me to develop a strong understanding of financial institution operations, culminating in the successful sale of my interests in these partnerships, including one to a subsidiary of Wintrust Bank. Following this, I co-founded STC Capital Bank in St. Charles, along with 10 other business professionals. We raised $22 million to establish the bank, providing me with invaluable insight into the formation and operation of financial institutions.
Between 1997 and 2008, I also acted as a private lender, funding over $20 million in loans through two LLCs. My lending model combined 40% personal capital with 60% commercial bank lines of credit, enabling strategic real estate investments and efficient use of leverage. Managing this portfolio allowed me to gain hands-on experience in originating loans, overseeing collections, and navigating defaults, giving me a comprehensive view of the entire lending process.
My career has been shaped by the ability to adapt and succeed in diverse roles within the financial side of real estate. Whether working on residential or commercial deals, public or private financing, I’ve consistently focused on creating strategic, effective solutions that drive results.
